Summer—Where Tea Meets the Wind

Show Window

The passage from early summer to summer is a special season for Japanese tea. New tea leaves that have budded after the cold weather are symbols of vitality. Their aroma and scenes of their harvest are cherished signs announcing the coming of summer.

This window reinterprets the forms created by tea fields hugging the mountain slope as a foodscape.

References to the Zen iconography enso and circles, triangles, and squares suggest fleeting intersections of eternity and the moments between form and no-form (openness), conferring on the space the power to deliver to all five senses the mood of openness and introspection that tea can prompt.

Moreover, by focusing on the rotational gesture of the tea ceremony, the window expresses the dynamic phenomenon of fragrance, as if the aroma were carried aloft and wafted by the wind. There’s a perceptible hint of coolness on drinking cold tea in a summer tea field. We hope you can experience the profound quiet of this moment in spirit-relaxing space.
