本展は、画家・仮屋美紀と小説家・田丸雅智氏によるコラボレーション展で「雲の物語」がテーマです。
雲は、空に浮かぶ風景としてだけでなく、人それぞれの記憶や想像、憧れを映し出す存在でもあります。形を変えながら漂う雲は、見る人によって異なる物語を生み出し、自由な発想へと導いてくれます。仮屋にとって雲は、下から見ても、上から見ても魅力的な存在です。彼女は先日、飛行機の窓から雲を眺めたとき、地上から見上げる雲も、空の上から見下ろす雲も、どちらも美しく、どちらも正しい景色なのだと改めて感じました。
その体験は、多様な視点や価値観を受け入れながら生きていきたいという想いと重なり、本展のテーマへとつながっています。また本展では、小説家・田丸雅智氏とのコラボレーション作品を10点発表いたします。

仮屋は、田丸氏がデビューされた頃からその作品に魅了され続けてきました。
「田丸氏が手掛けるショートショートの世界は、まるで宝箱のように次々と新しい物語が現れ、読むたびに驚きと感動をもたらします。特に、その文章から立ち上がる情景の豊かさは印象的で、いつも物語の風景を思い描きながら作品を読んできました。
本展では、田丸氏の物語の中から自身が心を動かされた場面を選び、絵画として表現しています。数多くの魅力的な情景の中から作品化する場面を選ぶことは容易ではありませんでしたが、それは同時に創作の喜びに満ちた時間でもありました。」―仮屋美紀―

"Cloud Stories" is a collaborative exhibition between painter Miki Kariya and fiction writer Masatomo Tamaru. Clouds are more than floating scenery in the sky; they project the various memories, imagined things and aspirations of people everywhere. Each person imagines a different story, letting their imagination run free, as they gaze at the drifting clouds and their changing forms. From Kariya's perspective, clouds are fascinating whether viewed from below or above. While traveling by plane recently and looking down at the clouds, she was reminded that they are beautiful whether viewed from the ground or the air—neither is the correct or incorrect way. Because this thinking overlaps with her general desire to accept diverse viewpoints and worldviews in life, she decided to make clouds the theme of this exhibition. The exhibition also features 10 collaborative paintings with fiction writer Masatomo Tamaru, whose debut works left Kariya enthralled. Says Kariya regarding this exhibition, "The worlds depicted in Masatomo Tamaru's flash fiction are like treasure chests opened one by one, revealing new discoveries each time. I am constantly surprised and impressed with every one of his works. In particular, the richness of the scenes expressed through his prose leaves a strong impression—I am able to picture those worlds vividly as I read. For this exhibition, I picked scenes from his tales that moved or touched me deeply, and expressed them through painting. It wasn't easy to choose just a handful to portray, as he has put out so many incredible works, but that creative process was highly enjoyable for me as an artist."
Enjoy these unique pieces where pictures and words resonate in a world of imagination that is as wide-open and free as the clouds.

Clouds are lovely whether taken in from below or from above. View them from the ground or while in the sky—neither way is incorrect. That's similar to how I approach living life in general.
