MOMOTARO JEANS was founded in 2006 in this place where traditional techniques and history have been passed down through the generations.

At this pop-up shop event, we’ll feature a wide selection of items, including jeans crafted with meticulous attention to detail—from fabric selection, dyeing, and weaving to sewing—as well as tops and denim jackets.

Rigid (unwashed) fabric that highlights the deep indigo color and unique texture of “TOKUNO BLUE.”
To accentuate the indigo color of the warp threads, we re-examined the denim’s composition and selected a finer yarn for the weft threads. Additionally, by applying a treatment that minimizes shrinkage after washing as much as possible, we’ve mitigated the drawbacks of rigid (unwashed) denim.

By using silk—a material notoriously difficult to weave—as the weft yarn, we’ve achieved a smooth, soft feel against the skin.
The result is a unique fabric texture that combines the elegant luster of silk with the beauty of the rigid (unwashed) finish.

This fabric carries on the unique textured feel that has been loved for generations, combining durability with a soft, comfortable fit.


At the shop, we will be offering a hem-shortening service using a Union Special chain-stitch sewing machine—originally developed around 1880 specifically for hemming.
By finishing the hem with a chain stitch, you can enjoy the unique texture characteristic of Union Special as you wear the garment over time.
